2011 MENA M&A Deal Volumes Up By 4% But Values Decrease By 28%: Ernst & Young
Total Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deal volumes in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region registered a rise of 4% last year, from 401 in 2010 to 416 in 2011, according to Ernst & Young’s 2011 year-end MENA M&A update. Deal values on the other hand fell by 28%, from US$44.1bn in 2010 to US$31.7bn in 2011.
UAE Minister of Economy Discusses Key Economic Issues At Davos
Sultan Al Mansoori, UAE Minister of Economy, said the Arab Spring, which began one year ago, presents challenges to the economies across the region, but also opportunities. Speaking to the Media at the World Economic Forum in Davos, he added that the UAE, as a stable, secure state, will see some immediate short-term benefits as investment flows to safe havens, but in the longer term, all economies in the Middle East will benefit.
