SCB to organise artistic workshops in Dubai, Ajman and Sharjah
As part of its theme 'A World as Big as Your Imagination’, Sharjah Children Biennial, SCB, is hosting a series of artistic workshops in the Emirates of Sharjah, Dubai, and Ajman, outside of its main exhibition space at the Sharjah Art Museum.
The workshop are aimed at inspiring children across the emirates to express themselves through art, and encourage them to use their imaginations while promoting community values, communication skills and the spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
The workshops, which are part of SCB’s fifth edition, are entitled ‘Let's Colour our Beautiful City’. The first in the series were held at Ajman Corniche from February 1-3, where children of all ages and nationalities painted and coloured wooden houses to create a miniature city, with each house reflecting not only the children’s enjoyment of the day, but also their unity, collaboration and teamwork. Dubai will host the next set of workshops, taking place from 7th-9th February and Sharjah will play the ultimate host on 11th and 12th February.
The workshops also played a role in introducing SCB, held under the patronage of the Wife of H.H. the Ruler of Sharjah, H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, to the public.
Reem BinKaram, President of SCB, said, " With every edition, we aim to increase not only the number of children involved and the number of activities they can participate in, we also strive to make the experience more rewarding, more relevant and more inspiring. Art is a wonderful window to the world and one that many children have never experienced in such a way that they can gain full advantage of the benefits it offers.
She added, "Art should be accessible to everyone, anywhere, regardless of circumstances and those who are less fortunate deserve the right to imagine a new world of hope and peace through art. We are extremely proud of the role we have played over the years and will continue to play in enriching the lives of the children of the UAE and, in turn, our contribution to the nation’s culture itself."
