UAE’s alternative energy projects up to US$100b by 2020
The Ministry of Economy, or MoE, said the private sector investments in the UAE’s alternative and energy projects could exceed US$100 billion by 2010. "Investment opportunities in the market for alternative and sustainable energy projects that can be invested by the private sector in the UAE will be around US$100 billion by 2020. Globally, the total alternative investments could reach US$1.5 billion by 2010", the MoE’s committee on UAE’s Investment Map said on Monday.
The committee also expected that these opportunities can drive economic activities worth up to US$ one trillion.
"The production of bio-fuels and alternative energy from multiple sources will be accounted for 50 percent of the available opportunities at the state level," it said, adding Water recycling is expected to make up 20% of investment opportunities while urban sustainable development projects 30%, according to the committee.
