Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) has initiated an appointment process of shortlisted UAE national candidates after the bank's successful participation in the 18th National Career Exhibition, held at the Expo Centre Sharjah on 10 - 12 of February. Other banks, financial institutions, as well as local and federal government authorities also took part.
Following the executive management’s decision to increase the starting salary level of new graduates, SIB's stand attracted an impressive turnout of Emiratis seeking a career in the banking sector. A total of over 800 job applications were submitted during the three-day exhibition. Bank sources say that the starting salary increment is aimed at helping new graduates “fulfill their ambitions and expectations”.
Eman Jassim, Head of the Human Resources Group at Sharjah Islamic Bank, said: “Each application has been scrutinised and sorted in accordance with the bank’s requirements and the National Human Resources Development Department is in the process of contacting successful applicants. Open days for interviews will then be organised at the bank’s different departments and branches.”
“We will also use our social media channels for further recruitment through a soon-to-be-announced tool. This move will facilitate the application process and keep pace with technological developments and media channels that many people now use,” continued Jassim.
“The bank’s participation in the exhibition is part of a long-term strategy to attract Emirati talent into the banking sector and develop their skills through a series of training programmes designed to prepare a new generation of national leaders, in the UAE banking industry. The exhibition is an ideal platform to meet and interview potential candidates,” she added.
Fadhila Al Marzouqi, Head of the National Human Resources Development Unit, Sharjah Islamic Bank, said:
“Sharjah Islamic Bank is committed to nurturing national talents and providing young Emiratis with career development opportunities. The Emiratisation workforce ratio currently stands at 40 per cent and reaches an impressive 90 per cent in the branch management positions. We are looking forward to recruiting more national talents this year and to raise the status of our bank as a leading workplace and destination of choice for UAE nationals of varying educational backgrounds.”
His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, recently honoured Sharjah Islamic Bank with recognition of its role as diamond sponsor of the National Career Exhibition. HE Mohammed Abdullah, CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, was presented with a trophy of recognition from His Highness during the ceremony, which was organised on the sidelines of the exhibition.
