In furtherance of the UAE’s efforts to protect workers’ rights, Sharjah Airport recently concluded its annual summer campaign titled “With you for a refreshing summer”. For three months from 15 June, was aimed at safeguarding the health and safety of workers and avoiding exposure to the sun’s rays in all work areas in the afternoons.
The campaign included the distribution of bags containing personal protection supplies against COVID-19, the sun’s rays and high temperatures, as well as the daily delivery of meals to outdoor workers.
An ideal environment for workers and employees
Engineer Lamia Obaid Al Shamsi, Director of Support Services at Sharjah Airport Authority, confirmed that the campaign was initiated as a continuation of the authority’s efforts to provide an ideal work environment for staff, to maintain their health and safety, and to equip them with the tools and capabilities to help them complete their work accurately and proficiently.
In addition, the campaign contributed to the fulfilment of Sharjah Airport’s vision and objectives, while also serving passengers and customers in a way that boosts tourism and commercial activity in the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE.
An additional incentive for excellence and proficiency
The “With you for a refreshing summer” campaign received an overwhelmingly positive response from workers, who expressed their gratitude for the airport leadership’s interest in their health and safety and the efforts made to reduce workplace risks. The workers stressed that the campaign served as an additional incentive to work more efficiently and to go the extra mile to meet the needs of customers and travelers.
In support of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation’s decision regarding the ban on work at noon, and to continue to raise awareness of the importance of prevention and protection from the dangers and complications resulting from severe heat exposure, Sharjah Airport is dedicated to hosting a summer campaign every year.
